Ms. Briana R. Garcia serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at Education Service Center, Region 20. Briana is responsible for providing visionary and collaborative leadership around human resource management strategies, and organizational planning and development. She leads and oversees multiple complex HR services that impact the total employee experience, including employee relations, risk management, recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, employee development, performance management, employee engagement and off-boarding.
Throughout Briana’s 20+ year career at ESC-20 in Human Resources, she has served in various roles including HR Clerk, HR Assistant, HR Generalist, HR Supervisor, and HR Director. She began her HR career as a temporary employee with a GED and has since gone on to achieve an Associate of Arts from San Antonio College, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management from The University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master of Business in Human Resources Management from Texas A&M University-San Antonio and a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute. Briana is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Resources Management from National University.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Briana’s interests include UTSA football and tailgating with her husband (Go Runners!), laughing with close friends and family, the continuous pursuit of knowledge, and leveraging her top five CliftonStrengths throughout her personal and professional endeavors: Futuristic, Relator, Learner, Responsibility, and Individualization.
