Join us to hear from Jason Magee with Soldier Recovery Unit on discussing transitioning veterans from military service to civilian employment.

Learning objectives:

  • Better understanding of the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU). 
  • Better understanding of a transitioning SRU Soldier to civilian life under a “new” normal. 
  • An increased willingness to assist not only the transitioning SRU Soldier, but all transitioning Servicemembers, to reach their goal(s) of becoming a productive member of society

Jason Magee is a 23 year Army Veteran/Retiree.  His combat/operational deployments include Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq (x3), and Afghanistan.  Jason hold certifications as a Lean Six Sigma – Black Belt and as a Certified Business Continuity Professional.  His current job position is a Transition Coordinator at the JBSA-Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-FSH) Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU), which is a specialized unit within the U.S. Army to assist the wounded, ill and injured Soldiers recover from their medical injury/illness.  As a Transition Coordinator, SRU is the Program Managers for the Career and Education Readiness program that prepares the transitioning SRU Soldier for life after military service.  This include providing and coordinating career mentoring/guidance, resume development, financial education, establishment of internships/apprenticeships/volunteer opportunities, and education/certification services.
