Topic: Managing Conflict in the Workplace

The presentation will be a practical application of the conflict resolution principles involved in human resource management. The focus is to create effective cultures to maintain non-union status in a non-legal manner and also effective managing in a unionize environment.

Speaker: Bill Smith

Bill Smith is the owner and principle mediator in the firm The Texas Mediator. He started the firm in 2016 after having a thriving, robust mediation practice in Ohio. Mr. Smith bring a wide range of mediation experience and conflict resolution shill to bear when settling client disputes. His mission is to provide conflict resolution services in the employment arena. Given his vast experience in Human Resources and operation management, he has chosen to specialize in the employment area.

His education includes a B.S. degree from The Ohio State and a J.D. from the University of Toledo. Before entering the employment arena, Smith practiced law in Michigan. He worked in manufacturing as an hourly employee and on the railroad where he gained significant understanding and empathy for the hourly employee. This understanding has served him well as he progressed through his career. After leaving the practice of law, he moved into labor relations where he represented management and Fortune 100 companies. He negotiated with all the major labor unions and realized significant success.
