Workshop Following Monthly Meeting:  Learn About the BIAS Version of Yourself!  Working WITH Our Bias; Not Our BIAS Working Us!

APPROVED for 3 (General) Recertification Credit Hours through HRCI and Professional Development Credit (PDC) through SHRM.

Participants, after hearing about unconscious bias origins and science from Rodney Klein over lunch, will come to the workshop for a practical, hands-on experience to learn:

  • Biases are not the enemy! How do we accept ours and others biases
  • Discover how to develop awareness and exploring our patterned thinking through questions and analysis

Identify steps to change choices and behavior in self-identified "stinky-thinky."

Facilitators:

Emily Boyce, MA

Emily brings a unique combination of HR, psychotherapy, and experience living and traveling around the world to our workshop. Adapting to different environments and cultures and serving as a Board-Certified Art Therapist with diverse populations has encouraged her to examine her biases over and over again. She now applies her passions for human growth and inclusion to the HR field. You will be delighted in the workshop by her energy, experience, and expertise.

Cora Lonning, MBA, SHRM-SCP

Cora is the 2018-2019 Director of Diversity and Inclusion for SAHRMA. She recently presented to the Texas Diversity Council at their Greater San Antonio Board Meeting. It was well received and requests for more! With a background in adult learning theory and training facilitation, Organizational Communication and Development, academic and corporate experience in HR, this workshop promises to be full of powerful takeaways and ready to apply knowledge. We look forward to learning with you!

Sylvia Hornbacker, SHRM-GPHR

Sylvia brings more international flair to our discussion, as she has held many HR roles with international firms, specializing in international relationship management and employee relations. Sylvia is fluent in both English and Spanish. Having a hearing impairment herself, she experiences first hand the value differences can bring to the workplace; and the challenges often experienced. You will quickly get caught up in her energy!
