Sandy Hernandez (BBA, OLLU / MBA, TAMUSA) was heavily influenced by human resources as a work study during undergrad while working with the Director of HR of OLLU that she switched her major from accounting (numbers) to human resources management (People). HR has since has become her passion. In her last year of undergrad, she joined Ace Mart Restaurant Supply where she created the HR infrastructure from scratch, working alongside the Gustafson Family. After 10 years she joined Barrio Comprehensive Family Health Center, a federally qualified health center, as the Chief Human Resources Director and remained there for 13 years. She is a Passion Committee Member for the American Heart Association and has assisted with Heart of Gold and Go Red for Women events as their volunteer coordinator and/or sat in their auction committees. She worked independently as a consultant for a few years but has recently joined Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, Vice President of Human Resources, returning to the not-for-profit sector. She is an adjunct faculty member at Webster University providing Staffing and Human Resources Management courses in the HR Master's Degree program. Sandy has two kids who heavily influence her love of concerts and music and enjoys traveling.
