Summary: According to research 1 in 5 Americans shows up to work with a diagnosed mental illness. Pair this with the demands of the workplace, burnout, compassion fatigue, and what seems like a never-ending churn of good talent, workplaces need to refocus and make mental health their bottom line for those with and without a diagnosis.
Fortunately, they can do this by cultivating and nurturing a culture of psychological safety where employees can fail forward, champion accountability, and voice their needs well before they’re out the door. Organizations that prioritize mental health improve employee well-being and increase talent retention.
