Dr. Heather L. Staples is a distinguished human resources professional and leadership coach with a passion for fostering positive organizational behavior and navigating the dynamics of a diverse workforce. With over 17 years of experience spanning multiple industries—including retail, hospitality, manufacturing, sports, biotechnology, and healthcare—she has cultivated a wealth of expertise in driving organizational success through strategic HR practices and leadership development. 

Dr. Staples holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu and an MBA with a Human Resources concentration from Saint Mary’s University of San Antonio. She furthered her academic achievements by earning an Education Specialist degree, completing significant graduate coursework in Psychology, and culminating in a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Organizational Leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word. 

Currently, Dr. Staples serves as the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies and an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Her academic and professional endeavors are centered on empowering individuals and organizations to thrive in complex, evolving environments by embracing diversity, cultivating effective leadership, and promoting collaborative cultures.
